My dear citizens,
The Jalandhar Police website is
a part of the continued endeavour of the Punjab Police to reach out to the citizens for presenting basic facts about its
organizational goals, mission and structure; providing interface for grievance redressal; for increased transparency in
police working; and, efficient delivery of police services.
The primary objective of Punjab Police remains crime prevention and detection, maintenance of law & order and efficient delivery of police services to the citizens. I want to bridge the gap between the police and the public, and shall always be available round-the-clock to the citizens who can contact me by meeting personally, on telephone, or by sending e-mail or fax. I have asked all the officers and men to be accessible to the public, and responsive to their grievances. Community Policing would be a corner stone of our policing philosophy, and we would be striving to build police-citizen partnerships.
The rapid urbanization in the state has thrown new challenges and we would come up with effective urban policing strategies and develop the police infrastructure in the state. I have asked my officers to utilize the information technology tools for better crime management.
Since Punjab remains a sensitive border state, we are fully alive to the challenges posed by the threat of terrorism and one of my objectives is to re-vitalize the counter terrorism and counter intelligence apparatus in the state. We would develop appropriate counter measures including effective intelligence support and internal security would be a key priority area.
It is matter of pride for me to lead such a gallant force, and the welfare of our men remains foremost. I am reaching out to all the ranks of police who are welcome to get in touch with me for resolution of any problems.
I urge the members of the police to function in a professional manner and to respond effectively to calls from citizens. I seek the cooperation of all sections of society in preventing and detecting crimes, while assuring them of our full support.
The Punjab police reiterates its resolve for a safe and secure atmosphere in the state.
Jai Hind
(Anil Kaushik) IPS
Director General Of Police Punjab.
